Processing Associate

The Role

The Processing Associate is responsible for providing administrative support to our underwriting team through the entering of client and underwriting data into our various systems and the creation of a wide range of policy documentation and some reception duties. This role is a phenomenal entry point for anyone looking to build a career in the Insurance industry!

Key Responsibilities

  • Reception duties – Answer incoming calls, greet incoming visitors, Outgoing mail – Canada Post / ICS
  • Review new business submissions and prepare quote sheets or risk reviews for underwriter review and approval.
  • Issue, endorse, renew or cancel policies following underwriting guidelines, contractual guidelines, and applicable laws, subject to assigned authority levels.
  • Input policy information into various systems including, TAM, PolicyWorks, Lineage or other host or business systems.
  • Search for information relevant to the underwriting function required to support the underwriting team including FUS codes, claims information etc.
  • Provide certificates of insurance to brokers as per established guidelines.
  • Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly. Support the underwriting team in completing sales by assisting with requests and other administrative duties.
  • Filing and document management.
  • Order and follow up with site inspections and handle endorsement requests and referrals for the underwriter.
  • Manage relationships with retail brokers and follow up on any outstanding information needed to complete the underwriting file.
  • Assist with customer and broker inquiries; including payment processing where applicable.
  • Perform follow up activities for policy transactions.
  • Perform daily filing and logging activities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, College or University Degree strongly preferred.
  • A year of professional work experience an asset. Any experience in the Insurance industry highly valued.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel required.
  • Experience with any CRM highly valued (i.e. Policy Works, Applied Systems TAM).

  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and multi-task.
