Lav Stublla

Lav Stublla is an accomplished insurance professional with over a decade of experience in underwriting, risk management, and broker relations. Known for his strategic thinking and innovative leadership, Lav has consistently driven growth, fostered strong broker partnerships, and implemented impactful operational improvements throughout his career.

Lav began his insurance journey in 2014 at Crawford as an Appraisal Support and Claims Administrator, where he built a strong foundation in claims management. He later transitioned to underwriting, excelling in roles at Economical Insurance and Aviva Canada, where he managed complex commercial portfolios and led successful pilot projects. In 2021, Lav joined Gore Mutual Insurance, quickly advancing into leadership roles in Commercial Underwriting for SME, Mid-Market, Fleet, and Garage, earning recognition for his ability to drive profitability and lead high-performing teams.

Since joining Excess Underwriting in June 2024, Lav has been a driving force behind the success of the Commercial Lines team. His leadership has strengthened relationships within the Lloyd’s open market, unlocking opportunities in high-hazard liability business and positioning the team as a leader in this space.

As Director, Underwriting & Broker Relations, Lav oversees underwriting for the Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, and GameDay teams, while managing broker relationships and driving growth with valued partners.

Lav’s professional achievements are complemented by his commitment to continuous development. He holds a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) Designation, a Commercial Insurance Certificate, and a GIE certification from the Insurance Institute, as well as a diploma in Business Administration Management.
