Alex is a Civil Engineer by trade who began his career in the insurance industry as a Risk Manager for major construction firms across Brazil, Panama, and Venezuela. During this time, Alex played a key role in large-scale public infrastructure projects in cities such as São Paulo, Panama City, Los Teques, and Rio de Janeiro. Notably, he contributed to significant developments for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, showcasing his expertise in managing complex risks for high-profile projects.
In 2017, Alex relocated to Canada to further his career in risk management and insurance. Since then, he has held underwriting roles at La Capitale (now Beneva) and Gore Mutual before joining Excess Underwriting. This year, Alex was recognized as a top contributor within the Canadian MGA Division and was honored at the prestigious Platinum Club Award event in Miami, Florida. Most recently, Alex was promoted to a leadership position, where he now oversees the Commercial Lines team with a focus on strengthening strategic broker partnerships.
